Thanks for joining me!
I’m going to write about technology on this blog and It’s going to be pretty informal with no real goal other than sharing my experience and linking to articles I find interesting or cool tweets or funny memes. I won’t say it’s going to be a waste of your time because readers might find something interesting here and I think it will prove helpful to me in capturing ideas and innovation that will prove to be helpful in my work (such as it is).
I’ll start with a link to The Real Story Group’s Year in Review which has a lot of interesting links including “Recorded Webinar: Digital Technology Predictions for 2019.” The gist of this Webinar is that the Digital Media space is over saturated and bifurcated with too many vendors (especially the DAM & CRM/CDP space) and rather than a consolidation with clear market leaders, which one might expect from a 30 year old IT segment, there are more vendors entering the market. The new year will present Marcom with the same issues that they had last year, and the year before that, and the year before that… Also, the will be “cloud wars” because Marcom clouds platforms hosted by big IT vendors refuse to integrate with their competitors meaning that Enterprise customers with different departments using different cloud platforms can’t share information cloud to cloud. What a joke. These companies just took the same problem they always had in the Enterprise IT shop and moved it to the cloud. Real Story Group has found a great business model because no company could ever figure out how to navigate this vendorscape and because RSG doesn’t play favorites there’s no one to force a consolidation and you’ve got to buy the research.
